Pete Link

American tubist and Virginia Beach, VA native Pete Link is the principal tuba of the Sendai Philharmonic Orchestra, a position  he has held since 2008. In the US, he has also either performed, recorded and toured with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Boston Symphony Orchestra, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Seattle Symphony Orchestra and Opera. From 2003-06 he was the principal tuba player for the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. From 1995-1999 he was a member of the United States Army Band Japan. Since taking his position with the SPO he has also performed with several of Japan’s other major orchestras to include the Saito Kinen Orchestra, Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, Yomiuri Symphony Orchestra and Kyoto Symphony Orchestra.

Pete has also been a featured soloist and clinician in Japan, China and South Korea. In 2017, he gave the Japan premier performance of John Steven’s “Journey” for Contrabass Tuba and Orchestra with the SPO and maestro Pascal Verro. As well as, more times than he’d like to admit performances of the Vaughn Williams Tuba Concerto with orchestra. When time away from orchestral engagements allow, he is also an active chamber musician as a founding member of both the Asian Connection Brass Quintet and Yamaha Japan’s featured ‘Bottom’s Up’ Tuba and Euphonium Quartet. Additionally, he has founded the Sendai Tuba Euphonium Conference (S.T.E.C) an annual event for freelance, aspiring professionals and amateur players alike. His formal tuba studies were at DePaul University in Chicago and principal teachers were Floyd Cooley, Gene Pokorny and Roger Rocco. In his free time he enjoys time with his family and touring on his Harley Davidson (FLHTK) with his Far East Dragons brothers. Rubber side down.
